Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The implementation of the cluster approach under the responsibility of the United Nations (UN) agencies since 2005 at national level is a real fact and welcomed as a positive reform. However, UN agencies work in the field in collaboration and coordination with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which work directly in the field for humanitarian assistance, which are sometimes the implementing partners of the UN Agencies, and which are associated humanitarian coordination across clusters.

At the global and national level in the DRC, the Education Cluster is co-chaired by UNICEF and Save the Children. The information manager is a key member of the Education Cluster coordination team and must act on behalf of it, not just Save the Children who recruited it. The objective of this position is to manage the implementation and management of an adequate strategy for the collection, analysis and sharing of relevant information, so that cluster members can make well-informed and strategic decisions. based on actual data.

The incumbent may have contact with children.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the incumbent of this position may be asked to work outside the usual role profile and may therefore have to vary his working hours.

Qualifications and Experience

  •  University degree preferably at an advanced level in a field related to information management;
  •  Formal training in the management of information on clusters is an asset;
  •  Experience of at least 8 years in information management preferably in education programs in emergencies;
  •  At least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector with the UN or NGOs;
  •  MS Excel technical skills (eg pivot tables and functions), GIS, creation of graphs and maps, etc. ;
  •  Good communication, coordination, and group work skills;
  •  Have a mastery of the humanitarian context and especially the Education in emergencies sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo;
  •  Good understanding of the concepts "Humanitarian Reforms", "Transformative Agenda", the minimum standards of Education in Emergencies (INEE), humanitarian principles and other recent developments in humanitarian programs;
  •  Demonstration and commitment to humanitarian principles, partnership principles, etc.
