Purpose of Assignment:

The Human Resources Intern provides support to the HR Business Partners in the unit for efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations. It will offer eligible/qualified students the opportunity to enhance their career development by gaining practical work experience in UNICEF under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff. This internship will benefit the students in acquiring organizational knowledge of rules, regulations and processes and integrate it with their academic background.

Major Tasks & Learning Activities:

The intern will be responsible for supporting projects as outlined below:

  • Learns diverse HR processes spanning the entire life cycle of staff member by supporting HR Business Partners in on-boarding, recruitment and selection, learning and development, performance management, off-boarding and many more.
  • Assists the team in maintaining operational staffing matrix providing substantive and organizational support.
  • Learns to draft a variety of correspondence and other communications.
  • Learns to collect, interpret and analyze HR data to help HR colleagues in informed decision making on HR processes and strategies.
  • Provides ideas and inputs in new HR initiatives and supporting their related tasks as required.
  • Other tasks as discussed and assigned by the HR Business Partners.

Qualification:

To qualify as an intern, the applicant must have:

  • Completed Master's Degree or equivalent program in Human Resources, business management, social sciences, psychology or another related field within the past two years. Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Excellent academic performance, as demonstrated by academic records.
  • Fluency in English and local language of the duty station.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and relevant computer systems and applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize concepts and materialize and communicate these clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple assignment simultaneously and adapt to the changing requirements.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Research and report writing skills are desirable.

Other Requirements:

  • Letter of verification from the college or university that the intern is currently enrolled or has completed studies.
  • Copy of most recent official transcript showing excellent academic performance.
  • Copy of Identification Card (ID)
  • Three (3) letters of signed recommendation on letterhead or from professional email address.
