GGGI has a unique in-country presence and prominent role as a neutral, trusted advisor and strategic development partner embedded in Member and partner governments. These advisors are directly engaged with national governments in setting the strategic direction for national program development guided by a Country Planning Framework with the Government. The operating model maximizes the potential to translate green growth strategies and policies (especially economic policies) into green investment plans, mobilizing green finance commitments needed to bolster support for low-carbon and climate-resilient economic development and strong institutional capacity development.
The Partnerships Unit is part of the Office of the Director – ODG – Division. Together with the Governance, Strategy, and Communication & Knowledge Sharing Units, the ODG Division supports the Director General (DG) with governance, partnerships, strategies, results, change management, communications, and advisory services. The ODG Division is both internal facing, in that it supports GGGI as whole to fulfil its strategic vision, and external facing in that it supports the DG in developing and maintaining relationships with partners and mobilize resources. The ODG Division ensures the DG is effectively supported to play his role as the 'global voice' for green growth.
The year 2021 is the first year of the implementation of GGGI’s Strategy 2030 approved by the Council in October 2019. GGGI’s 2030 ambitions set out the future course for the GGGI’s efforts to respond and effectively support its Members and partners needs in transforming their economies into a green growth model. The Strategy 2030 is translated into a 5-Year Roadmap and Corporate Results Framework (CRF) to guide the implementation over the period 2021-2025, and three regional strategies for Africa, Asia, and Latin America & Caribbean regions.
