UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The communications unit provides visibility and strategic communications support to country offices within the East and Southern Africa region as well as the various thematic units across the regional office.
In view of ensuring quality of materials used for awareness rising, advocacy and public dissemination, UN Women offices in East and Southern Africa has begun using various visual products including infographics to convey the enormous amount of work that is being done and to visualize the data that is available on women’s rights and issues. Visual products such as infographics provide the opportunity to present information and data and tell stories in a straightforward way. They are being used on and disseminated through, for example, UN Women websites, social media, and advocacy reports. UN Women plans to maximize its communication and outreach through targeted, diverse digital visual products such as: internet banners, infographics/data visualization, social media posters, animated visuals, and gifs for web and social media.
UN Women East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) seeks to hire a graphic design intern to support in producing various visual communications products and with media monitoring.
