UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) provides strategic and technical advice, leads regional advocacy efforts and support efforts at country level to influence ongoing policy and system reforms, leverage additional commitments and resources for children. In order to perform their roles effectively, the members of the Regional Office (RO) team are expected to have profound knowledge of the countries that the RO serve, as well as the requisite technical expertise and skills. During a recent internal programme review, the EAPRO team acknowledged that profound country knowledge within the East Asia Pacific (EAP) region is an area needing improvement.
Since early 2024, the Programme and Planning team has introduced the “Know Your Country” initiative, a multi-media approach to promote learning and understanding of the countries within the EAP region. A draft prototype has been developed, and the next immediate step is to replicate this for all the 14 countries in the region.
