Besides the four priority areas, UNDP Indonesia is also engaged in a variety of crosscutting initiatives focused on HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and information and technology for development.”

UNDP Office has organised internship programme to provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to UNDP offices, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments as well providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work. The current internship will provide opportunity for student or student who recently graduated from university to learn some aspects of the Programme in UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will assist the Programme Unit Team in coordinating roles with the scope of work as described below:

  • Dealing and involving with research and support on delivery of programme and project as per agreed work planned
  • Provide administrative programme support to key activities of Programme Unit;
  • Assist in the liaising with UNDP partners from the government agencies and CSOs;
  • Provide support on the development of Programme Unit’s portfolio communications materials;
  • Provide other assistance e.g. preparation and translation of documents and organizing meetings;
  • Support for new projects development and implementation for Projects;
  • Assist in development of TORs;
  • Develop the minutes of meetings
  • Assist in preparation of presentation material
  • Contribute to creation of project information

Outputs

  • Analysis on effectiveness of programme with local wisdom element and knowledge product to be shared on knowledge session in the office
  • Successful implementation of series of events/workshop as applicable and proper documentation lesson learnt of programme initiatives.
  • Effective support to the analysis on strategic implementation of new initiatives for future programming
  • Development of TORs, proper documentation of minutes of meeting and presentation materials
  • Effective support for programme team in development information about project

Required Skills and Experience

The following minimum qualifications are required:

  • Enrolment in a graduate-level degree programme in in relevant studies e.g. Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Development Studies or related field.
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • Knowledge of - or proven interest in – programme management
  • Proficiency in English . Fluency in Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese or Russian is an asset;
  • Computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP's Statement of Purpose and to the ideals of the UN Charter;
  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
  • Good communication skills; speaking, writing and editing skills in English;
  • Demonstrable skills in analytical thinking, communication, and research.
  • An interest in global mobility; adaptability to varied physical and other environments; a desire to work with and gain the confidence and respect of people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds.
