Sida's program for Junior Professional Officers (JPO) is a resource base program within multilateral development cooperation. The goal of Sida's work with resource base development is to broaden and develop the Swedish resource base and to increase the number of qualified Swedes in priority multilateral and international organizations. The program gives younger academics the opportunity to gain experience from development cooperation with placement mainly within the UN and the World Bank, but also other international organizations

This post concerns placement with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. See job description below for more information.

Sida cooperates with the UN in the selection and recruitment process. The service is for one year at a time, for a maximum of three years.

Qualification requirements:

• taken master's or master's degree at the time of application
• at least 2 years of relevant professional experience
• maxi 32 years at the time of application
• very good knowledge of English
• Swedish citizenship or Swedish residence permit with very good knowledge of Swedish and some education completed in Sweden

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, law, political sciences, international relations or relevant field, preferably with a specialisation in human rights

Work experience:

• At least two years of progressively responsible work experience closely related to the promotion and protection of rights.

Languages:

• Fluency in English with proven skills in drafting is required. Knowledge of French and/or Khmer is an asset.

Other skills:

• Computer skills, particularly with use of spreadsheets and databases
