Job Description

Chemonics seeks a Learning and Development (L&D) Manager to produce scalable training content for a designated target audience within the Global Health and Supply Chain Office (GHSCO). The manager works closely with the Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management project (GHSC-PSM) staff and the InDepth team to design, create, implement, and maintain instructional content in a hybrid learning environment for a diverse audience. The manager collaborates with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SME) from the project to assess learning needs, design and implement content, and review learning outcomes. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and customize innovative, high-quality trainings and learning outcomes for a designated target audience within the GHSCO and its field offices
  • Collaborate with SMEs to design, create, implement, and maintain trainings for a global audience
  • Engage and communicate with stakeholders to ensure learning solutions are appropriate, discoverable, accessible and effective
  • Deliver a host of in-person, blended, and online trainings and learning initiatives, including but not limited to: retreat facilitation, work planning development, project management courses, and management and leadership seminars
  • Perform needs assessments and task analyses, and evaluate existing documentation to identify appropriate training approaches and content
  • Create engaging knowledge-checks, simulations, and assessments based on learning and performance objectives
  • Independently create storyboards, audio, and video scripts, job aids, scenarios and case studies, learning activities, and course content
  • Apply sound instructional design theory to create online/web applications, infographics, learning assessments, and user guides
  • Maintain and develop course templates, models, standards, and procedures
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best-practices in the eLearning and instructional design community to aid experimentation
  • Supervise and mentor Associate or Coordinator level team members
  • Serve as acting L&D director as necessary
  • Foster and demonstrate a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation and exceeding expectations


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as instructional design or organizational development preferred
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience, with one year proven experience designing trainings
  • Experience using authoring tools (e.g. Microsoft Suite [SWAY, STREAM, etc.] Lectora, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite) strongly preferred
  • Experience developing globalized content and applying localization approach for context-specific audiences preferred
  • Familiarity with ADDIE or other instructional design methods
  • Familiarity with EdCast, Degreed or a similar social learning platform is desirable
  • Experience translating technical-functional content into an enjoyable and consumable user experience
  • Proven ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion within schedule and budget
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Team player with experience working across multidisciplinary teams with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
