Job Description


The Africa and Middle East Programs Manager will be part of a highly efficient and motivated team and serve as the focal point between Stamford, CT headquarters and the Liberia office, coordinating between departments in HQ to enable efficient operations. Based at Americares headquarters in Stamford, CT, the Manager will support the Liberia office as its headquarters advocate responsible for supporting project management, field staff capacity building, and program quality assurance for field office operations and programs.


  • Support the implementation of Americares programs in Liberia, ensuring adherence to project cycle management principles;
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to field teams;
  • Provide financial oversight review and budget tracking of Liberia program funds;
  • Support refinement of field office procedures and processes to increase program quality and efficiency including providing on the ground program support as needed;
  • Support field data management and facilitate planning and reporting mechanisms in HQ;
  • Support the local team for the Access to Medicine program to increase Americares Liberia impact;
  • Collaborate with Global Programs leadership across departments to increase program effectiveness and develop multi-year program strategy for Liberia;
  • Serve as an organizational focal point for assigned programs with internal stakeholders;
  • Work with gift-in-kind and corporate relations teams to build shipments for Liberia;
  • Support corporate relations team in development of donor requests for gift-in-kind donations;
  • Assist field and HQ teams to develop program proposals and donor reporting;
  • Work with the development team to plan and execute donor engagement;
  • Train field staff and partners on participatory training methods, data collection and analysis, project cycle management, quality improvement, and other topics;
  • Provide support for the Emergency Response team in Americares responses to complex humanitarian emergencies and rapid onset emergencies in the African continent;
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum: Master’s degree preferred (or bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience) with concentration in a relevant field including, but not limited to, global health/public health, international affairs, or development;
  • 3 years of development or global health project management experience;
  • 2 years of working experience in sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Knowledge of public health, reproductive, maternal and child health, infection prevention and control, mental health/psychosocial support, and/or health systems strengthening in low-resource settings;
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time;
  • Experience managing and mentoring personnel, both in person and remotely;
  • Familiarity with participatory methods in program development, implementation, and evaluation preferred;
  • Experience developing and leading participatory trainings;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communications skills; ability to develop partnerships across sectors and cultures;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States;
  • This is a headquarters-based position in Stamford, CT.
