Job Description

Evidence Action aims to be a world leader in scaling evidence-based and cost-effective programs to reduce the burden of poverty for hundreds of millions of people in the poorest places. Last year Deworm the World reached over 270 million children by partnering with governments to launch, scale, and sustain mass school-based deworming programs. Meanwhile Dispensers for Safe Water provided 4 million people across rural Africa with clean water, saving thousands of young lives. The approach relies on an innovative and human-centric design to deliver clean water at the source. Our Evidence Action Accelerator (previously Beta) builds and tests our next generation of programs, seeking bold and scalable solutions with a focus on health, water and sanitation, and nutrition.

Evidence Action has a presence across 10 countries, with major offices in Nairobi, Kenya; Delhi, India; and Washington, D.C. Our programs have been recognized by GiveWell, the Skoll Foundation, The Life You Can Save, Giving What We Can, and covered in the Economist, NPR, and the New York Times.

Position Overview:

Are you impassioned about improving the lives of hundreds of millions of people and making a measurable and clear difference in their opportunities? Are you excited about shaping the strategy and trajectory of a young and rapidly growing global nonprofit? Are you comfortable using data and evidence to drive sharp and informed decision-making, to design, implement, and monitor programs with exceptional results and value for money?

Evidence Action is seeking a Manager, Analytics & Project Implementation who will help build the next generation of at-scale programs which measurably improve the lives of tens or hundreds of millions of people. S/he will drive sourcing, incubation, and development of the next generation of Evidence Action programs. The Manager, Analytics & Program Implementation will help develop and drive a groundbreaking and evolving approach to developing and testing programs at scale, ensuring the programs we ultimately scale work – both in the inception and in the actual delivery – and offer exceptional value for money.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly entrepreneurial person who can rapidly build exceptionally high-quality new programs, while relentlessly measuring and assessing whether the programs are having the desired impact. S/he will have strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities and be adept with quantitative analysis. S/he will bring superb interpersonal skills and work collaboratively and effectively with Evidence Action team members across the organization as well as external partners and country governments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Source, build, and rigorously test the next generation of programs for Evidence Action for delivery at scale, starting with some of our promising new initiatives such as: screening and treatment of maternal syphilis, scaling the delivery of iron and folic acid across India, and a portfolio of initiatives clustered within the child health space
  • Collaborate with our cost-effectiveness and measurement teams to develop highly practical, action-oriented, and effective approaches to measuring programs’ effectiveness and understanding the counterfactual of engagement – ensuring we are scaling what truly works in improving individuals’ lives.
  • Build the business case and framework for assessing potential programs within your portfolio by analyzing the scale potential, cost-effectiveness, evidence base, strategic fit, and funding base.
  • Identify and help mobilize diverse revenue streams to allow for significant scale-up as appropriate, building on the existing base.
  • Work closely with academic partners and delivery partners to prototype, test, and scale earlier-stage and novel solutions as they emerge.
  • This position requires ~35% travel, mostly international.
