The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. Using a protection of human rights framework, DRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by conflict. Programmers include protection, livelihood, food and NFI distribution, water and sanitation, and advocacy amongst others. DRC Yemen has been providing relief and development services in Yemen since 2008. DRC has mainly focused on refugees and migrants displaced by conflict and natural disasters.

DRC, through its specialized business unit, Danish Demining Group (DDG) aims to recreate a safe environment where people can live without the threat of landmines, unexploded ordinances and small arms and light weapons”. These goals can be effectively advanced through cooperation and joint action with other organization as well as with integration of operations and programs with its sister organization, DRC.

About the job:

Overall purpose of the role:

this non-managerial position is under the overall guidance of the MEAL Team Leader. S/he will contribute to the development and implementation of DRC Yemen MEAL framework, with particular focus on assisting the designing and implementing of the MEAL activities and assisting the MEAL team in assuring the implementation of activities adhering to quality criteria during the monitoring process in addition to a particular focus on accountability towards beneficiaries and other target groups. S/he will implement the community feedback mechanism guidelines while receiving, documenting, and processing complaints received through different channels. S/he will contribute to identifying and generating lessons learned from the DRC Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) and assist the project staff in preparing periodic reports on the complaints mechanism. S/he will submit the weekly and monthly database/report while keeping the importance of data confidentiality and security.

Responsibilities: 

  • Act as a focal point to conduct CFM session for DRC protection staff and lead the awareness session on DRC CFM to the migrants while patrolling with protection team; clarifying how to fill out and complete the beneficiary satisfaction survey once arrived at restaurant.
  • Collect direct feedback and complaints from migrants during patrolling and follow up with respective protection team leader to address any complaints raised by the migrants.
  • Assist the protection team to cross-check the number meal vouchers (redeemed), or ready to eat food packages and ensure the data report.
  • Conduct routine field visits to the restaurant to check the quantity/quality of the provided meals in addition to check the functionality of the installed suggestions/complaints box and the availability of paper-based questionnaires.
  • Collect the completed satisfaction surveys and share them in the frequent basis with MEAL CFM focal point in Aden. When needed, conduct data entry process from the paper-based questionnaire to predefined excel format.
  • Assist the MEAL Team Leader to ensure having adequate CFM resources.
  • Conduct frequent field visits to Aden to share and discuss the issues encountered during the implementation with the MEAL team leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by MEAL Team Leader/Manager.

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience:

  • Minimum of one-year experience in a similar job with national/international NGOs/UN.
  • Well knowledge of MS utilities (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Fluent speaker of Oromo, Amharic, Tigray and Somali
  • Ability to write reports in both Arabic and English.
  • Good training & communication skills.

Required qualifications:

Education :

  • High school certificate. Preferably, bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, statistics, economics, M&E science, social science, or related field.

Languages:

  • Oromo, Amharic, Tigray and Somali (Fluent)
  • English (Good).
  • Arabic (Good).
