Background:

DRC has been operating in Greece since November 2015, providing support to the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy in ensuring dignified reception conditions for refugees and migrants arriving on Lesvos island. In March 2016, DRC expanded its operations in Athens, in response to the changing context and the build-up of refugee population on mainland Greece.

Purpose:

DRC Greece is looking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work for its office in Larissa (Central Greece) as a MEL Assistant. Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the MEL Assistant is responsible for the implementation of pre and post-intervention data collection, both quantitative and qualitative and directly liaising with the DRC programme’s beneficiaries. She/he will also work together with the MEL Coordinator on data consolidation, analysis and reporting and actively participate in the dissemination of the findings as planned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The MEL Assistant responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Support the development of data collection tools, such as questionnaires, checklists etc.
  • Administer surveys, conduct interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs) and any other data-collection techniques necessary
  • Give feedback and make recommendations for the constant improvement of the data collection tools and methods
  • Ensure the safe storage and archiving of the databases under her/his responsibility
  • Support the Area Manager in data analysis and report-writing as required
  • Participate in the findings’ dissemination sessions to program teams, as well as to various stakeholders
  • Accompany the program teams during key moments of our interventions offering technical support in putting in place previous recommendations

Required Qualification:s

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques, including surveys, interviews, FGD, observations etc.
  • Ability to present and meaningfully disseminate findings addressing to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent Arabic, Kurdish (Kurmanji and/or Sorani) or Farsi/Dari language skills
  • Excellent English language skills is a must
  • MS Office computer skills, especially Excel

Other Additional Qualifications:

  • University degree in international development, behavioural /social sciences a strong advantage
  • Familiarity with gender and protection mainstreaming in humanitarian programs an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with different groups, partners and nationalities
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Capacity to build rapport with people from various cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of SPSS, ODK, NVivo, KoboToolbox or similar software highly desirable
