Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, African Union Commission (AUC), United Nations agencies and relevant stakeholders as may be needed to facilitate project implementation of continental initiatives.  Contribute to effective project management, timely donor reporting, and regular coordination with implementing Country Offices
  • for the IOM AUC- African Development Bank (AfDB) multi country project, the Streamlining Diaspora Engagement to Catalyze Private Investments and Entrepreneurship for Enhanced Resilience’ (SDE4R).
  • Coordinate and monitor the administrative and financial aspects of the AfDB funded project in accordance with IOM policies and practices, donor requirements and keep the supervisor informed on the status of project implementation by identifying gaps and suggesting actions to facilitate implementation. In close collaboration with the IOM Missing Migrants Project (MMP) team in Berlin, support initiatives towards the development of evidence-based continental guidelines that address the issue of missing migrants in Africa.
  • Support the conceptualization, development and launch of the 3rd edition of the Africa Migration Report (AMR) through effective coordination with relevant staff in SLO, HQ, AUC to deliver a quality product.
  • Participate in the preparation of concept notes and project proposals to support resource mobilization efforts in the SLO.
  • Develop  and adjust  work plans, project budgets, monitoring & evaluation tools and standard operations procedures for the continental initiatives.
  • Ensure visibility guidelines for projects are adhered to during project implementation in line with donor requirements by working closely with the communication team on project related activities including summary briefs, press releases and other relevant materials on social media platforms.
  • Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring visits, project assessments by attending relevant conferences, workshops and forums related to the continental project activities
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, International Relations, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Economics, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

 Work Experience:

  • Experience working with AU Institutions and Regional Economic Communities in the field of migration governance; diaspora engagement, displacement and mobility issues, in policy design, implementation and monitoring and in research and evidence generation on broader development, and migration and/or other related topic.
  • Advanced conceptualization, analytical and drafting skills.
  • Good knowledge of project development, including project design, implementation, and management, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, programme quality assurance and coordination, and good donor relation.
  • Good level of computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Windows / MS Office applications.
