Over the past few years, the World Bank has actively supported the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina through investments, knowledge and technical assistance. This support has translated into tangible results, including: RESULTS
The support is based on priorities agreed with authorities and reflected in the joint Country Partnership Framework (CPF). The current CPF focuses on three main areas: enhancing the efficiency of the public sector; unleashing the potential of the private sector; and enhancing resilience to natural shocks. Throughout its work, the World Bank focuses on enhancing inclusion and opportunities for all, but especially for women and youth.
The World Bank recently published an updated country diagnostic, which highlighted the need to act rapidly and strategically to protect and better leverage the human capital of the country. This includes enabling the creation of more and better jobs, enhancing the quality of public services, addressing environmental risks (including air pollution in major cities), improving the quality and relevance of education and strengthening healthcare. The COVID pandemic has increased the urgency to act rapidly to provide relief to those directly affected and to enable the economic recovery by supporting enterprises and entrepreneurs and eliminating obstacles for firms and entrepreneurs.

About this position
The World Bank is seeking an Operations Analyst (OA) to join the team based in BiH. The OA works closely with the Country Manager and World Bank technical teams working in BiH, as well as functioning as an ongoing liaison with authorities in the country.
For this position, we are seeking an entrepreneurial, dedicated and knowledgeable team member, with deep knowledge of the situation in the country and in-depth understanding of the World Bank’s operations and policies. Given the nature of the job, we seek applicants with judgment, well-develop analytical capacity and outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
The main responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Ongoing monitoring of the ongoing financing operations, technical assistance and knowledge tasks.Proactive guidance to technical teams and counterparts.Early identification and action on bottlenecks for implementation of tasks.Review of Implementation Status Reports and Implementation Completion Reports in line with corporate guidelinesParticipate in actively in missions, including providing pre-mission advise to technical teams aimed at enhancing missions’ effectiveness and, during missions, documenting and following up on implementation agreements.
Analysis of new operations:
Review concept notes for financing operations, technical assistance and knowledge activities providing guidance to teams on country context and compliance with corporate guidelines
Core team member or strategic engagement activities, including Portfolio and Learning Reviews, Completion and Learning Reviews and Country Partnership FrameworksMaintain day-to-day operational contact with technical counterparts aimed at facilitating implementation of operations and ensuring adequate communication related to operational aspects of the World Bank programLead coordination and information exchange with development partners on technical aspects
Lead preparation of periodic reports, briefs and portfolio analyses to headquarters
Lead the organization of events, including coordinating logistics, technical inputs and communications.Participate actively in communication of the World Bank’s programs and analyses
In-depth knowledge of World Bank policies and procedures. Demonstrated working knowledge of procurement, financial management and environment and safeguards framework (ESF).In-depth knowledge of the country context, including well-developed understanding of the government structure in BiH.Experience working with public sector officials
