In line with its coordination mandate, UN Women promotes coordination and coherence across the UN system to enhance accountability and results for gender equality and women’s empowerment, including through joint programmatic and advocacy actions and initiatives, standardized tools and guidance and services to strengthen the relevant capacities of the UN system.

UN Women Türkiye collaborates with numerous partners – central and local level government authorities, civil society organizations, including women’s organizations and platforms, opinion-makers and activists from different sectors, academia, private sector companies, media, development partners and other UN agencies. It commits itself to the Leaving No One Behind principle, by supporting targeted actions to remove the obstacles that marginalized and vulnerable groups of women face in accessing their rights and to promote them as agents of change.

UN Women Türkiye has functional teams under its portfolio and will be recruiting  1 Operations Support Intern, who will support Operations The Operations Team consists of Finance, Security, Administration, Procurement and Human Resources divisions.

The Operations Support Intern will support the Operations Team by performing a variety of tasks that will help improve the standard administrative processes, assisting the day-to-day functioning of the office and ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Operations Support intern will report to the Operations Analyst in UN Women Turkey Office and will be expected to support in undertaking the tasksas follows:

 Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Office in accordance with UN Women rules, regulations, policies, and strategies

  • Support in arranging travel and hotel reservations, preparing travel authorizations, processing requests for visas, identity cards and other documents, collecting information for DSA, as required;
  • Provide administrative support to conferences, workshops, retreats, activities and events.
  • Contacts with visitors and staff, arrangement of appointments and meetings, acting as an interpreter when required and/or taking minutes.
  • Collect information on shipments, customs clearance arrangements, prepare documents for UN Women shipments (received/sent);

Provide administrative support to the Operations team in human resources (HR), procurement and assets management

  • Help monitor and maintain office stationery supplies including maintenance of stock list of stationery, distribution of stationery and keeping a log of distribution, as required;
  • Help maintain records and archive on procurement cases, financial documents,  assets management and prepare required reports;
  • Provide support to HR in terms of compilation and preparation of HR documentation
  • Support in the administrative organization of payments
  • Follow non-confidential tracking tables, draft reminders and announcements to staff

Required Skills and Experience

Recruitment Qualifications

Education:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: social sciences, public administration, gender studies, political science, international development, or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation, or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English is required;
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Turkish language is an advantage.
