Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Partnerships Manager is responsible for the effective management of resource mobilization, partnerships and communications for AKF Madagascar's portfolio of over $ 2 million per year.

The position is also part of a Global Partnerships team, which includes a Director of Institutional Partnerships, a Global Performance Manager, Partnerships staff in donor units based in London, Washington, DC and Ottawa, and Partnerships staff. in all AKF management units

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The “Partnerships” function supports AKF Madagascar and its implementing partners by performing five essential functions:

  • Development of proposals
  • Program support
  • Partnership management
  • Communications and awareness

Policy and strategy. These are described as follows:

Development of proposals (35%)

  • Ensure that systems are in place and implemented to identify, review and track funding opportunities and lead the development of proposals to develop the pipeline and portfolio of programs to manage AKF Madagascar's contribution to the process global approval of AK proposals
  • Lead the team to coordinate the high quality development of all AKF Madagascar proposals across sectors, coordinating the contributions of all entities within AKF and implementing partners
  • Review proposals and assist with drafting if necessary, to ensure quality before submission to donors or upstream partners.

Program support (20%) (in partnership and coordination with the program director)

  • Ensure reporting systems and deadlines are in place for all AKF grants
  • Provide a final review of donor narrative reports as needed, and occasionally review reports directly from project managers or implementing partners
  • Guide the team to support project managers with project launch workshops, coordination events, steering committee meetings and learning events

Partnership management (25%)

  • Provide AKF with information and intelligence on the activities of donors, the wider development community and international organizations in Madagascar
  • Identify, establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with donors, implementing partners, international organizations and government partners to advance AKF goals
  • Coordinate the team for strategic site visits, meetings, events and other engagements with key donors and partners (existing and potential)
  • Ensure that systems are in place and implemented to conduct due diligence of new partners and donors, including “safeguarding due diligence”.

Communications and awareness (10%)

  • Lead the team to ensure that a strategy and systems are in place to guide communication work to meet project obligations, raise awareness and contribute to AKF goals
  • Expand the inventory of communication media to promote awareness of results and learning and support AKF visibility and resource mobilization activities in Madagascar

Policy and Strategy (10%)

  • Advise the CEO on strategic and operational issues
  • Coordinate team contributions on strategy papers, reports and responses to other AKF Geneva headquarters requests and other strategic obligations

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Masters in social sciences or other related discipline, preferably a Masters in the field of education
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in partnership or in business development in the field of international development or a relevant field
  • Good written English, excellent communication and oral skills
  • Experience in managing a team, preferably in the area of ​​partnerships or business development
  • Experience with client-oriented or outward-facing positions (e.g. partnerships, public relations, advocacy)
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal development including narratives, budgets and logical frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of grant or program support management including writing narrative reports, reviewing financial reports, supporting amendments to grant agreements and responding to other grant obligations
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a proactive and solution-based manner
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and inspire teams through own behavior and values ​​for adherence to AKDN standards and ethics
