Job Description

Roles and responsibilities     

• Support the implement of participatory action research on climate smart agriculture in the sites of the five countries of CCAFS WA
• Identify synergies between adaptation and mitigation as well as training needs for the West African situation
• Produce the various activity reports and synthesis on the use of the developed climate smart technologies/practices and their potential impacts on ecosystems and on livelihoods
• Support the implementation of any bilateral climate resilience project of the WCA portfolio
• Develop and manage country level partnerships with national and international organizations for the five countries where the program is being implemented.

Skill set     

• PhD in Agroforestry, Forestry or Agronomy with a strong focus on synergies between adaptation and mitigation, particularly on climate smart technology development in agriculture in Africa.
• No more than 2 years’ experience post PhD completion
• Experience working in West Africa
• Be able to work in interdisciplinary groups
• Very good in computer skills, particularly in data analysis
• Good writing skills and fluent in both English and French
• Speaking one of the indigenous West African languages is an asset
• Good records of publications in Climate change and agricultural sector
