Job Description

The Premises Maintenance Officer ensures the proper upkeep of ICRC premises and equipment. S/he performs building maintenance which includes, but is not limited to, structural, plumbing and electrical works for all ICRC premises in Davao in accordance with ICRC’s rules on facilities management, and guarantees coherence with all offices in Mindanao. S/he ensures close qualitative follow-up and supervision of the work done by external providers and/or construction workers, and strictly follows and observes security measures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when using toxic materials (such as insecticide or painting).

MAIN TASKS

  • Ensures that ICRC premises and its equipment are properly maintained and that all utilities are working as they should
  • Evaluates premises structures and ensures proper maintenance to sustain high level of safety standards
  • Evaluates the electrical system and installations at all ICRC premises and proposes a course of action to ensure that ICRC maintains compliance to electrical safety
  • Performs basic electrical troubleshooting and other electrical works
  • Performs basic plumbing, painting, and/or other utility works to ensure all ICRC premises are well kept and all its systems are working properly
  • Performs minor carpentry or basic masonry works and installations, as may be required, based on frame of knowledge
  • Purchases electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or masonry items required to perform maintenance tasks
  • Supervises equipment and electrical installations, carpentry and masonry works when performed by external service providers
  • Does initial troubleshooting for any equipment breakdown at ICRC’s premises and makes a recommendation to address the problem
  • Implements change of office organization, assists in handling furniture or transfer of equipment or items from one premise to the other, when necessary
  • Ensures that ICRC premises are equipped with security equipment (fire alarms, updated fire extinguishing units, fire blankets, anti-blast film)
  • Provides assistance to the housekeepers when needed

REQUIRED PROFILE

A successful candidate will have:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Filipino, and other local dialects
  • A valid professional driving license (light vehicles), with at least 5 years’ professional driving experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • The capacity to work independently
  • High flexibility/adaptability/ability to multi-task
