OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The Health Workforce Development team (HWD) works in strengthening the capacities of member states to develop and manage a competent health workforce, and thereby improve the access of the population to quality health care, through HRH strategic planning and implementation, building governance and education capacities, improving HRH information and knowledge and capacity building for priority health interventions. The team coordinates development and learning activities for national counterparts through fellowship programme and regional WHO staff through staff development and learning programme (SDL).
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Provide full administrative support to staff development and learning activities, including participating in planning, implementation and monitoring.2. Monitor and update the learning system, ensuring all the regional staff development and learning activities are recorded3. Prepare reports on staff development and learning activities across the region4. Provide information training to promote the use of learning management system and available training programmes to create awareness to a wide range of staff5. Organize staff development and learning committee meetings and maintain records6. Independently assess and process fellowship requests, compose and finalize correspondence of fellowship related, ensure placement and award letters. Update the fellowships computerized records by retrieving information from files and entering relevant computerized data;7. Ensure that the fellowship payments, financial transactions and reports are conducted in a timely manner.8. Provide full administrative support to meetings, draft costing for meetings, process all necessary documentation, liaise with participants, issue TRs, effect payments for participants, follow up on travel claims and complete logistical and financial arrangements, using GSM, monitor availability of funds and financial expenditures according to the approved work plan.9. Initiate and process different transactions in GSM, including procurement of services; completing necessary forms, obtaining approvals for APWs and following up with concerned parties on the receipt of deliverables and finalization of payments.10. Assist/replace administrative staff in the team, and perform other relevant duties as required.
