UN Women Türkiye has functional teams under its portfolio and will be recruiting  1 intern, who will support Programme teams. In terms of Programme, UN Women Portfolio consists of several projects in the areas of gender responsive budgeting, advancing women’s leadership in politics and business, combating violence against women and girls, support to civil society organizations and refugee response. Programme Support Intern will overall be supervised by Deputy Country Director and daily by the respective Programme Manager that Intern will be supporting.

The Programme Support Intern will support the implementation of UN Women Programmes in one or more of the above fields, in close collaboration with the respective Programme Teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Functions:

The Programme Support intern will report to the Deputy Country Director and the respective Programme Manager in UN Women Turkey Office and will be expected to support in undertaking tasks as follows:

Provide general administrative and logistical support to the Office in accordance with UN Women rules, regulations, policies, and strategies:

  • Support in arranging travel and hotel reservations, preparing travel authorizations, processing requests for visas, identity cards and other documents, collecting information for DSA, as required;
  • Provide administrative support to conferences, workshops, retreats, activities and events.
  • Contacts with visitors and staff, arrangement of appointments and meetings, acting as an interpreter when required and/or taking minutes.
  • Collect information on shipments, customs clearance arrangements, prepare documents for UN Women shipments (received/sent);

Provide support to the implementation of Programmes  and Projects:

  • Researches and prepares briefs/communication products on Programmes and Projects
  • Compiles information from different sources and produces analytical synopses for internal and external purposes (including annual reporting);
  • Collects information and data to be used for preparation of briefing notes, talking points, and reports as required;
  • Contributes to data entry and database updating/revision of programme related documents;
  • Provides support on additional tasks and projects related to the Programme teams.

  • Acquire in depth knowledge about Refugee Response Program and Women, Peace and Security related interventions in Turkey,
  • Acquire familiarity with the themes under UN Women’s mandate,
  • Gain practical experience with regards to programme/project implementation,
  • Improve drafting, reporting and analytical skills,
  • Learn about the operational procedures of UN Women,
  • Acquire team work skills in an international environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Recruitment Qualifications:

Education:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: social sciences, public administration, gender studies, political science, international development, or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation, or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English is required;
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Turkish language is an advantage.
