The project is currently in its third phase of implementation (2022-2023) which aims to build on the existing achievements and accelerate knowledge creation, capacity development and engagement in the emerging area of Digital Public Goods (DPGs). To this end, the platform team is technically upgrading and practically deploying the IAP as an integral part of UNIDO’s broader mandate on supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). To support the core project team the consultant will carry out specific technical tasks to further development and growth of the IAP.

Under the supervision of the IAP Team Lead, and working with the project team, administers elements of technical cooperation programme or specific project/s of limited complexity and execution of technical cooperation programmes and activities. Main duties are:

Strategy and Engagement:

  • Provide support towards development of communication and advocacy strategies that support UNIDO IAP objectives and translate into adoptive annual and quarterly workplans
  • Under the guidance of project manager contribute to the development of internal and external communication narratives and ongoing communication efforts
  • Support overall communications efforts online (including social media) and offline (e.g. events), to ensure the activities serve the strategy and directions.
  • Work with various UNIDO IAP workstreams to target key stakeholder groups to grow awareness and engagement with the platform’s larger agenda, both internally and externally
  • Build media relationships with key outlets (traditional and online) for positioning UNIDO (IAP) in the digital development space

Content Development and Distribution:

  • Administer the IAP Articles pipeline and publication schedule, including the network of IAP Associate Editors
  • Support the development of platform content with internal and external partners and contributors
  • Under the guidance of project manager, support management of the pipeline of communications pieces (including, but not limited to, press releases, videos, podcasts, social media content, etc) to highlight emerging IAP digital initiatives and in-country operations
  • Support the compilation and development of promotional materials for donors, government, and partner audiences
  • Work closely with relevant UNIDO communications colleagues at HQ and country level to promote UNIDO IAP work

Digital Communication and Partnerships:

  • Identify key audiences around priority areas of interest, build awareness via advocacy campaigns and/or marketing initiatives with precise targeting
  • Manage regular updates to priority stakeholder groups, both within UNIDO and with external partners and other International Organizations.
  • Help advance UNIDO IAP practice in digital marketing, including but not limited to leveraging the latest tools and platforms and demonstrating data-driven results.
  • Actively contribute to external promotion of the platform and its content - seek opportunities and institutional partnerships to promote UNIDO IAP and its priorities through events, high-level meetings, in-country operations etc.
  • Work closely with other team members to improve customer relationship management, digital marketing, knowledge management and content management systems to enable the rapid growth of digital services at UNIDO.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in journalism, communications, international relations, international development or related field is required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
