The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
This role is found in Headquarters (HQ) in the Office of the Executive Director (OED), and reports to the BUSBE Project Manager.
WFP has a critical role in ensuring the progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is therefore important that the organization has the required resources from the most appropriate funding sources to support its growing operational activities; the allocation of these resources should reflect the organisation’s priorities, be right sized and efficiently deployed.
In light of this, Member States support WFP in undertaking a Bottom Up Strategic Budgeting Exercise (BUSBE), to support greater alignment between funding sources and the various types of activities undertaken in regional bureaux and headquarters. The exercise will consist of in-depth analysis of the recurring programme support and business operations requirements as well as a review of the attendant funding sources (e.g. PSA, uplift, cost recovery, extra budgetary).
The objective of the BUSBE is to ensure that all funding sources (including but not limited to the PSA) for the period 2022-2024 are efficiently aligned to the various types of activities undertaken in all locations. A detailed review of the required resources will allow WFP to transparently allocate funding between RBx and HQ. The BUSBE will also enable a more efficient use of funding, in line with the organisation’s operational and management priorities over the same period.
The job holder will use experience in delivering strategic projects and working with complex subject matter to analyse data, prepare material, identify opportunities for improvements and support the management of project.
Conduct analysis of data and documentation to develop insights for senior leadership, support the BUSBE involvement in the 2022 Management Plan exercise and support project management activities for the BUSBE.
