Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The work of UNOPS seeks environmental, social and economic sustainability, which contributes to the progress of equity and the common good of the countries in which it operates, thus promoting the improvement of the living conditions of those most in need. UNOPS has a presence in 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Services, products and technical assistance comply with the public administration principles of transparency, fairness, integrity, free competition, impartiality, morality, effectiveness, efficiency and respect for institutions nationals.
  • For its part, the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) presents a considerable gap in infrastructure and hospital equipment. Faced with this situation, the IGSS Board of Directors has prioritized the construction of hospitals, through an ambitious infrastructure plan at the national level, executed in two phases. The first phase of the Master Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the Hospital Network and IGSS services was developed during the years 2007-2018 and had technical assistance from UNOPS for the construction, equipping and supervision of 17 hospitals in Guatemala City. , Quetzaltenango, Sololá, Totonicapán, San Marcos, Huehuetenango, Quiché, Quetzaltenango and Puerto Barrios. In this context, the second phase, to be developed between 2020 and 2025, implies the construction of three (3) hospitals and their respective equipment through UNOPS, through the IGSS-Infrastructure project, in order to increase the coverage of medical care through infrastructure and hospital equipment that improves and brings health services closer to the beneficiaries. The objective of the IGSS-Infrastructure project is to provide support to Social Security to strengthen management and operational capacities through the execution of the processes necessary for the implementation of the second stage of the Master Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the Hospital Network in Guatemala. in order to increase the coverage of medical care through infrastructure and hospital equipment that improves and brings health services closer to the beneficiaries. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the person in charge of Subcomponent 1.2 Renal Replacement Services of UNOPS, the Intern will be responsible for carrying out the following activities, but not limited to them:

Specific activities:

  • Accompany and support in the supervision of Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis in the centers that provide such care.
  • Support in the administrative and logistical processes for the management of workshops, trainings, meetings and other events.
  • Support in systems management, information consolidation in digital and physical files and correspondence.
  • Support the documentation of the processes requested by the specific supervisor of the area.
  • Other tasks assigned related to the position by the specific supervisor of the area.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Diploma at the diversified level (high school) is required.
  • It is required to be studying Biomedical Engineering and / or Electronic Engineering.
  • It will be valued to provide a university degree at the bachelor's or master's level, maximum 03 years of graduate at the time of applying.

Work Experience

  • It does not require providing professional experience.
  • It will be highly valued to have carried out other internships or volunteering, preferably in the areas of Health, Administration and Engineering or related.
  • Having experience in process diagramming is a distinct advantage.
  • The management of office packages is valued (preferably G Suite or MS Offices in turn).

 Languages

  • The Spanish language is required (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of the English language (oral and written) will be valued.
