The Intern will be a part of the GPU and support the Unit’s work on knowledge and information management, development, communication and dissemination of global Protection policy, standards and guidance, and the delivery of thematic events and training.

Under the guidance of GPU colleagues, the intern will support 1) Knowledge, information management and

documentation (30%); 2) Contribute to the development and rollout of policies and guidance (30%); and 3) Contribute to preparation and delivery of thematic and learning events (40%):

The tasks will include, but will not be limited to:

Information and Knowledge Management:

  • Information management, including analysis and surveys targeting protection colleagues
  • Maintain and support the GPU knowledge management, including repository of policies, standards, and guidance and the Protection Sector’s intranet and website page.

Development and Rollout of Protection Policies & Guidance:

  • Develop and support GPU communication and rollout of protection policy & guidance efforts
  • Contribute to the development and/or rollout of protection policy and guidance (e.g. Protection programme design guidance, guidance on inclusion of minority and diverse LGBTQI+ persons in protection programming).

Preparation and Delivery of Thematic & Learning Events:

  • Support the development of webinars, trainings and meetings on Protection components and Age, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming (AGDM)
  • Contribute to preparation and delivery of thematic learning events, incl. the 3-day annual DRC Global Protection Network Meeting
  • Coordinate and support GPU administrative tasks, including monthly meetings with the Regional Protection Coordinators.
