The Protection Trainer will provide protection trainings for DRC staff and partners, in line with staff and organizational capacity assessments. The trainer will be expected to develop material on topics agreed with the Protection Manager, and deliver the trainings in field locations. Likely topics include introduction to protection, child protection, handling disclosures, communicating with children and PFA. The trainer consequently needs to have a strong technical background in protection and PSS.

About the job

The individual will report directly to Protection Manager . Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Training Development

  • Work with the Protection Manager to identity protection training needs for DRC staff, partners and community-based protection committee members;
  • Develop a training plan per department/partner;
  • Develop protection training materials in English and Arabic, in consultation with the Protection Manager;
  • Develop a facilitation skills training, in consultation with the Protection Manager.
  • Develop a self care workshop for DRC staff.

Training Delivery

  • Deliver trainings/workshops in Arabic and English, as per the needs of the trainees.
  • Any other tasks, as requested by the Protection Manager.

About you

Required / Desirable

  • Degree in Social Science, with a preference for psychology; Masters would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working for an INGO in the protection sector; candidates who have experience working in a diverse range of protection fields (including CP, GBV, PSS) will have a distinct advantage.
  • Extensive experience developing and delivering protection trainings;
  • Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organizations;
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic
