The Role

A challenging and exciting opportunity for an astute, dynamic and resourceful Public Health Promotion Specialist with extensive leadership and community mobilisation experience in a conflict context. You will work as part of a multi-sectoral team to respond quickly to the Public Health and Sanitation requirements for internally displaced people and host communities affected by conflict. The work will involve, among other things, carrying out initial and ongoing assessments of the public health risks and needs of the affected population, designing response, contributing to providing strategic direction, writing proposals and reports, in line with the PHP objectives, timeframe and budget and in adherence to quality standards, community participatory approaches and do-no-harm principles.

About the MECIS Region

The Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (MECIS) region implements and manages programmes in Yemen, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Russia, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Contract Length: Fixed term contract for 12 months

Benefits: Hard to work allowance of £4,000 net per annum. In addition Oxfam offers staff a comprehensive benefits package including annual leave entitlements, sick pay provision, medical cover plus opportunities for learning and development. (Net = take home pay. Oxfam will meet the tax and social security liabilities of post-holder in addition to net salary)
