The overarching goal is to raise resources and strengthen partnerships with public and private partners to reach the results for children planned in the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2023-2026 as part of an effort to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) linked to children and adolescents.
With this post UNICEF Ecuador is building capacity for a systematic long – term fundraising for both public and private partners (corporate). The incumbent will systematically approach and communicate with top potential partners and provide long-term programme and budget details based on agreed CPD funding gap priorities. The incumbent will build “donor intelligence“by creating profiles and updating donor mapping exercises regularly.
How can you make a difference?
The position reports to the Deputy Representative and liaise with the Private Fundraising Officer, is expected to work collaboratively with the country office management, programme and private sector fundraising colleagues, HQs Divisions, regional offices, between others.
The key result of this post is to support and strengthen the implementation of the Country Office Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Strategy for 2023-2026.
Within the delegated authority and the given organizational set-up, the incumbent may be responsible for all or most of the following areas of major duties and key end results.
Your main responsibilities will be
Contribute to the implementation of the work plan for assigned area, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in accordance with UNICEF Ecuador’s partnership strategy.
Build and maintain UNICEF Ecuador’s partnerships, by supporting the development and implementation of standards and guidance for UNICEF partnerships; formulation of work plans and develop strategies and technical proposals for resource mobilization.
Support the development of frameworks and templates and review partner agreements and amendments for senior staff and HQ approval, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations.
Maintain up-to-date information on partner and income trends and keep resource partner profiles updated including preparation of briefing notes and related materials for senior management.
Support with grants management and budget supervision and support the country office programme sections to develop effective and persuasive donor proposals, investment cases and other fundraising related materials.
Help supervisor maintain effective relationships with other UN agencies, NGOs, government, and other partners, to keep them informed on important, strategic operational UNICEF issues.
Attend meetings with local donor partners, government, UN and NGOs taking notes, sharing information, and supporting joint information programmes to increase UNICEF’s profile, and protect its interests.
Conduct research on perspective new partners for UNICEF, and provide analysis of the areas of work, outreach, financial based and reputation of prospective partners.
Duties include the following:
Schedules Resource Mobilization Taskforce (RMTF) meetings and shares the agenda for these meetings.
Tracks and updates the Resource Mobilization Action Plan.
Writes donor profiles.
Writes briefing notes on funding partners’ interests and past interaction with UNICEF for the office leadership before meetings – this is accompanied by investment cases or proposals (written by technical teams) as appropriate.
Plans and tracks the Representative and Deputy Representative’s high-level engagement with funding partners and ensure proper follow up.
Supports coordination between different programme sector teams approaching high-value donors (to ensure a coordinated approach).
Requests (or writes) and shares detailed notes from each donor meeting.
Meets regularly with the Communications and programme teams to ensure donor visibility needs are met.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education: A first level university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, business management or another relevant technical field.
Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, budget management or other relevant area.
Language:
Fluency in Spanish and English is highly required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) or a local language is an asset.
