Job Description

We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities in developing countries. In fiscal year 2020, we invested $22 billion in private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, leveraging the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity.
  • Cities are central to economic development and quality of life and face sweeping global megatrends, including rapid urbanization, climate change and technology disruptions. Through fiscal decentralization they are also assigned increasing responsibilities for infrastructure service delivery, but the resulting investment needs cannot be borne by the public sector alone. IFC is uniquely positioned to support cities through direct engagement with municipalities, utility companies and private sector solutions providers. Through its Cities Practice, IFC draws on World Bank Group and private sector expertise, providing and mobilizing commercial finance, connecting cities, utilities and private infrastructure service providers to capital markets, as well as delivering project development, structuring and implementation support for urban infrastructure projects. IFC engages across the all urban infrastructure sectors, such as public transport, waste, water and smart cities.
