About the Project
Scaling up government health insurance that provides access to free or low-cost care at public and private hospitals is a key policy priority in India and many other LMICs. However, there is relatively little systematic empirical evidence to inform the design and implementation of these programs. Furthermore, several studies in India have found these programs have muted effects on health spending and outcomes. Building on previous research conducted in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan, this project will identify and evaluate supply and demand side interventions to increase hospital compliance with program rules and encourage appropriate take-up of the program by eligible patients, with a particular focus on females and children.
This position offers an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in conducting high-quality, policy-relevant field research and interacting with academics, government, and hospitals in the context of a largescale public health program in Rajasthan, India.
