Job Description

James Berry (University of Delaware), Rebecca Dizon-Ross (University of Chicago), and Maulik Jagnani (Cornell University) are seeking a qualified field research associate. The position will be based primarily in Hyderabad, India.

The primary project the Research Associate will contribute to involves understanding the role of information in educational choices of parents, in environments where they face many schooling options for their children. The research seeks to understand the nature and extent of incomplete information related to school choice and parents' demand for different types of information. The project activities involve standardized testing of children, household surveys, elicitation of willingness to pay for information, and provision of information to households.

The Research Associate will be responsible for supervising all aspects of the fieldwork and coordinating data entry and cleaning. Key tasks include:

  • Assisting with development of survey questions
  • Designing and implementing the data collection strategy
  • Recruiting and supervising enumerators
  • Coordinating data entry
  • Data cleaning and basic analysis
  • Communicating with the Principal Investigators on progress
  • Knowledge of Telugu is a plus, but not required.
