In the context of the Digital Ambition, you will ensure adequate IT systems developments in line with business needs. Your role is to ensure close relationship with the End-Users community, continuous improvement of the IT applications, their adaptation to new business needs (incl. the users/clients’ satisfaction) and be part of the working group to explore new market solutions.

Operating Network:

As (Senior) Business Analyst, you will report to the Head of Unit (within the Ops/OSD-2 division in the Operations Support Department) and work on projects affecting multiple EIB Directorates (Operations, Risk, Legal, etc.). You should therefore have or develop a thorough understanding of the EIB. Based on very good understanding of various financial instruments and/or mandates, you will need to develop an understanding of all existing financial instruments/mandates used at the EIB and their processing across the EIB. You will not only focus on Serapis (the core-lending application of the EIB) but also to other IT applications, cross -directorate functional requirements.


Business analysis and projects preparation and implementation:

  • In a very close relationship with the business community, evaluate the actual business needs and priorities, and actively apply design thinking to organically progress the business solutions and create business value;
  • Continuously align the product direction to the overall division and department strategic priorities;
  • Prepare/update  the business requirements, obtaining consensus for them with the project stakeholders, design and functional testing of business features in your scope;
  • Structure the business requirements using various techniques (e.g. conceptual data model, activity diagram, state diagram…) that is ready to analyse for IT;
  • Prepare relevant documents (PIR, Business Case, Project Charter…) to get the project approved by IT
  • Coordinate and supervise the execution of the project in collaboration with IT;
  • Prepare/review test cases (including non-regression) to validate the good implementation of the solution;
  • Supervise testing team for the execution of the testing plan;
  • Work in close relationship with:
  • Information Systems and Applications Division colleagues to provide input to prepare Data Governance documentation
  • Other divisions of Operations Support Department to assess impacts on procedures
  • Other coordination teams in the Bank to analyse potential impacts on downstream applications (back-office app, pricing, risk, etc…)

Engagement with and support to the users’ community:

  • Ensure effective communication on the projects to the hierarchy (organize steering committees…);
  • Act as a the first point of contact for support to the users’ community of the solution or Serapis support team;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the user documentation (user manual, presentation…);
  • Participate to working groups and business initiatives requiring expert knowledge;
  • Develop and maintain appropriate communication channels/tools, designed to foster effective exchange with the user community and fluent working relationships with other Directorates;

Improvement of business processes:

  • Promote innovation; continuously identify possibilities for efficiency improvements in operations; manage change processes as needed
  • Provide support to the Head of Unit in the implementation the OPS IT Digital transformation Plan.


  • University degree ideally in a technology, information or business-related subject  (incl. Engineering)
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally gained both in an IT-related or consulting environment
  • Good understanding of the EIB mission and activities as well as the operating and political framework in which the Bank operates
  • Knowledge of various financial products (including risk sharing instruments, investment funds and quasi-equity products)
  • Good knowledge of business requirements modelling techniques (conceptual data model, activity diagram, state diagram)
  • Acquaintances with external solution providers would be an advantage eg. PEGA
  • Proven experience in project management (experience in Agile methods is a plus), finance and IT
  • Experience in Digital Transformation projects is a plus
  • Good negotiation skills and ability to work in teams
  • Good presentation skills (ability to explain complex problems in simple terms)
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French with good command of the other.
