The UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is UNESCO’s first education-related category 1 institute in the Asia and the Pacific region towards the development and promotion of new approaches to education for a more peaceful and sustainable world. The Institute aims to become a globally regarded centre of excellence for research and implementation of socio-emotional learning (SEL) through innovative digital pedagogies empowered by Artificial Intelligence.

Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO MGIEP and the direct supervision of the National Finance and Administrative Officer, UNESCO MGIEP New Delhi, the incumbent will:

  • Carry out system maintenance tasks, such as performing monitoring tasks, running system diagnostics, and system optimization, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use
  • Maintain technology, including standard repairs, configuration, and storage, in accordance with data security and access controls to ensure IT equipment required for staff is available.
  • Prepare files and systems for inventory and archives, such as website content and directories, to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
  • Obtain and maintain security clearance sufficient to access all necessary computer systems and confidential information.
  • Full compliance of IT activities with UNESCO rules, regulations, policies, and strategies; manage and troubleshoot all the IT equipment including servers, desktop PCs, Laptops, Printers, Scanners, etc.; applications server, web server, file print server, and email server and maintain email accounts.
  • Maintain and manage the local area network; organize and conduct preventive maintenance on hardware equipment; Install, configure, and maintain all the client software on desktop PCs and laptops.
  • Support users in using various software packages used in the Institute; install and configure email clients for all the users depending upon the email server used; Guide users with IT Equipment s and procedures.
  • Respond to a variety of queries about technology and IT systems to ensure staff use standard technology and systems effectively
  • Provide standard IT training to end-users of technology and systems
  • Ensure total protection from a virus on the server and all the desktops and regularly update the virus software; perform a regular backup of all critical data.
  • Coordinate with all ISPs for resolving all connectivity problems; support and monitor the WAN/Internet connectivity depending upon the ISP used; Installation of hardware, network connections, and cables.
  • Install, operate and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment, to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.
  • Proactive maintenance of the telecom system to avoid disruption of service.
  • Evaluate hardware, software, and other IT-related equipment and solutions; coordinate with all third-party equipment providers.
  • Maintenance of inventory of all computers, telecommunication equipment, I/O devices, and software existent in the office ensuring compliance with registration and upgrades; performance of maintenance and minor repairs on hardware equipment.
  • Orient new staff, interns, and volunteers on the use of IT equipment and on established IT policies and procedures or services provided, write reports, track inventory, evaluate new technologies, negotiate contracts with vendors, and develop contingency plans in case of network failure.
  • Update the supervisor on the status of projects or technical issues.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field; suggests improvements to methods and processes to support the continuous improvement of IT services.
  • Coordinate with HQ IT team for all required concerned matters and provide administrative support to carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the post as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Under the technical guidance of the Chief Information Technology Officer, provide technical support to FramerSpace users who are experiencing technical issues in FramerSpace as and when required.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor Framerspace cloud infrastructure as and when required.
  • Generate technical reports focusing on user complaints and resolutions.
  • Any other related task as assigned by supervisor/ Director.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • A university degree in information technology or related domain.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience of progressive work experience in a supporting role in IT.
  • Has experience resolving complex technical issues related to information technology, including hardware, software, and networking.
  • Has worked with the head of units in defining requirements for functional areas.
  • Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve/ escalate service problems.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Hindi and excellent English, both oral and written.
