  • Overall manage the AFSP II – Extended project 
  • Engage with Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp) Secretariat to ensure Agroforestry Food Security Programme (AFSP-II Extended) effectively contributes to its priorities 
  • Ensure that the AFSP II-Extended monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework is implemented to ensure the provision of clear information on programme impact and lessons learnt. 
  • Collate, Compile and timely submit technical reports (quarterly, biannual and annual) for the AFSP Programme Steering Committee (PSC) and Flanders Government; monitoring and tracking of progress against planned output targets and indicators. 
  • Ensure timely submission of project financial reports including expenditures reports, monitoring and tracking of expenditure against output targets and indicators. 
  • Provide Technical Support to AFSP-II Extended partners in programme planning and implementation of activities.
  • Organise Programme Steering Committee (PSC) meetings of the AFSP II-Extended
  • Ensure the effective management, allocation and utilization of programme funds including ensuring that adequate financial recording keeping of accounts and reporting is carried out 
  • Support AFSP II-Extended programme implementation team (PIT) and implementing partners in capacity development 
  • Supervise project technical staff of the AFSP II.
  • Identify and coordinate production and provision of training materials to partner institutions 
  • Support implementing partner institutions in the development of annual programme evaluations 
  • Review and update project Annual Work Plans and Budgets
  • Participate in preparing and monitoring budgets of the AFSP II-Extended  
  • Support the development of MoUs with Programme partners of the AFSP II-Extended  
  • Facilitate programme learning events for the AFSP II-Extended
  • Regularly update Nodal Rep. on progress and challenges in implementation of planned activities
  • Overall coordinate training support by ICRAF Scientists and technical staff to the UBALE programme implemented by CRS
  • Regularly engage with Chief of Party (CoP) of Ubale programme to ensure ICRAF timely meets its obligations (contributions) to the programme.
  • Review and update CRS-Ubale project annual workplans and budget
  • Coordinate, facilitate and ensure that ICRAF’s training activities for CRS-Ubale are implemented as planned
  • Produce quarterly, biannual and annual technical progress reports on the training conducted by ICRAF
  • Regularly update Nodal Rep. on progress and challenges in implementation of planned activities

Skill set

  • MSc in Natural Resources Management/MSc in Agroforestry or MSc Agricultural Sciences/MSc in Agricultural Economics
  • At least 5 years post MSc 
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to write good development reports in English
  • Ability to manage staff
  • Good computing skills
  • Good knowledge of data processing packages (e.g. Excel, SPSS, etc)
  • Ability to develop data collection tools
  • Ability to analyse data and produce scientific reports, conferences papers, posters, policy briefs, etc.
  • Ability to write/produce training materials for agricultural extension workers/agents
  • Excellent social skills, networker capable to develop and maintain partnerships
  • Team player
