icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.
In Bangladesh, about half of the Bangladeshi mothers have common mental health issues. During pregnancy and childbirth many women experience depression and anxiety. icddr,b is going to create the access to mental health services for the women during their antepartum and postpartum period by introducing a “Well-being corner” at the facility setting.
Senior Research Assistant will be reporting to the Senior Field Research Officer and will also be responsible for assisting in planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.
Major responsibilities are:
Assist PI in writing project proposal, protocol and draft reports;
Understand and assess patients’ mental health condition using patient selection tools;
Provide audio-video psychosocial counseling to the patients through digital Well-being platform;
Screen and refer patients for psychiatric treatment;
Maintain communication with patients and ensure follow up service receiving;
Monitor and providing guidance to field staff of Well-being corner for uninterrupted service providing;
Train Doctors of the facilities on Mental Health service delivery;
Update to PI/Co-PI on Well-being service delivery activities and challenges on monthly basis;
Record patient history using digital platform.
Required qualification and experience:
Masters in Psychology.
Minimum 3 years of experience. Candidates having experience in mental health service delivery through online platform will get preference.
