Job Description

Position Purpose:

The position will contribute to the implementation of the resource development strategy to diversify funding sources as outlined in the program strategy of WV Nepal.

S/he will lead the cross-functional National Office and Regional Proposal Design teams for grant acquisition (technical, finance, supply chain, public engagement, ADPs or operations, P & C), gather information relevant to proposal or concept note being developed.

S/he will assist in the identification and screening of grant opportunities and evaluates its fit with WVIN Strategy,

S/he will work closely with Technical Sector teams and/ or the regional design and technical teams in the conduct of assessment (data collection and analysis) and designing of concept notes /proposals according to the guidelines of the donors.

S/he will compile, review and fine-tune concept notes and based on the plans and targets for the period.

Key Objectives of the Position:

  • Leads the assessment, design and write up of concept notes and proposals following grants acquisition systems on programming gaps identified.
  • Develops capacity statements and communication products on WVIN capabilities and program results to be used in partnering and proposals;
  • Assist in working with technical program teams & regional teams in the identification of needs or funding gaps in WVIN’s programming;

The position is accountable for the following:

Assessment and Design of Concept Notes and Proposals:

  • Submitting concept notes in identified funding gaps/needs from the cross-functional and cross-organizational teams
  • Submitting proposals for non-sponsorship funding to SOs
  • Forming cross-functional (technical sector, HR, supply chain, finance, etc) at national office and cross-organizational (ADP/operations & NO) or partner organization for assessment and proposal development
  • Leading community level multi-sector/organization assessments
  • Ensuring that work plan for the development of the concept note or proposal is in place with clear deliverables and timelines
  • Ensuring that agreed systems, processes and procedures on grant acquisition & management are followed including agreed work plan /schedules for the design team for every submission

Increasing Readiness for Grant Acquisition:

  • Identifying strategic partners among national organizations
  • Mapping of national NGOs at divisional level which can be potential strategic partners of WV for acquisition (Scoping and relationship building among strategic partners)
  • Writing of WVIN capacity statement on key technical sectors relevant to relationship building of potential partners
  • Producing communication material (flyer/brochures) of key sectors achievement/results of WV program for use in partnering
  • Contributes to the pre-positioning of WV with donors and other stakeholders
  • Assisting operation team to ensure reporting standards are understood and followed and when needed reviewing reports

Professional and personal development:

  • Completing performance review and achieving personal development goal
  • Participating in trainings organized related to grant acquisition (e.g. Proposal pro, Basics on Grants (Grants Gateway Modules)
  • Updating information and knowledge gathered through participation of meeting, training, workshop and exchange visit

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field as Development studies, International Relations or related field with atleast 5-6 years of experience in resource development with atleast 3 years in programme design is essential
  • Masters degree in relevant field as development studies with atleast 4-5 years experience in the related field will be preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of development issues
  • Updated on current knowledge of latest development methodologies and donor trends that impact the planning process
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of humanitarian industry (relief, development, and advocacy), including how INGOs operate in the global and local contexts.
  • Understanding WV current ministry and operations is critical
  • Broad understanding and in-depth knowledge of government and bi/multilateral agency funding requirements and systems.
  • Good conceptual and practical skill to write project concept paper and design documents of the project.

  • Skills in project design, budget preparation, evaluation and report writing
  • Skills in monitoring and development of log-frames.
  • Proven capacity building ,facilitation and training skills
  • Good command in English, both written and verbal
  • Decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Competent in using MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint presentation
