About Indus Action

Indus Action has a mission to enable the disadvantaged gain access to legislated rights sustainably, in India. Our first action is to create a breakthrough in inclusive education. We achieve this in collaboration with progressive state governments and a network of partner and community entrepreneurs. We are led by a world-class team and an international board.

India's Right to Education Section 12(1)(c) law mandates unaided, private schools reserve 25% of their entry grade seats to children belonging to socially or economically disadvantaged families. Essentially, due to this law, more than 11 million families now have a choice of selecting high-quality private schools across India in the next five years.

India's Right to Education law grants free access to high-quality private schools to economically and socially disadvantaged children. However, national seat fill rate is only ~15 percent. Indus Action has till 2018, enabled 90,000 students in less than 5 years, with 84% fill rate in our areas of operation. By 2020, we aim to enrol 1 million children and are well on course to achieve the goal. By saving $1500 in tuition fees, families save 12% of their annual income. This yielded $45 million savings per every year thus far. We are able to deliver this impact at a marginal cost ($3 per child). Our cost-effective model ensures impact at 0.001% of the annual budget the government spends in implementing this policy.

Position Summary

Indus Action (IA) is looking for an Associate, Human Resource Operations who will work towards maintaining organizational culture and sourcing, selection and induction of new team members. IA is moving towards being a DDO(Deliberately Developmental Organization), you will play a major role in driving this culture across the organization by setting up various structures across the organization. You will also smoothen employee experience and internal communication across hiring process. Apart from this you will have the opportunity to work on and even initiate any other Human Resource Projects aligned to organization’s mission and vision


  • Design and execute structures that promote DDO culture within the organization
  • Strategize and execute recruitment strategies to source more applicants and improve hiring operations
  • Strategizing methods to improve an applicant’s experience
  • Support the Learning and Development Lead with ongoing projects
  • Perform analysis of various data and draw meaningful insights
  • Initiate Human Resource projects aligned to organizational vision
