The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme (The Programme) is to build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergency risks and, when national capacities are overwhelmed, to lead and coordinate the international health response to contain outbreaks and to provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.
The Health Emergency Information and Risk Assessment Unit is responsible for identifying new public health events, assessing risks to public health, conducting epidemiological surveillance and field investigations, monitoring public health interventions, and communicating public health information to technical partners.
Description Of Duties:
  • Maintain the DHIS2 server as per WHO cyber security requirements and standards through regular upgrades of DHIS2 applications to the latest stable version or revisions.
  • Setup and install new servers at the regional or country level. Develop new databases and migrate exiting database into the DHIS2 platform. Migrate the legacy data of WHE and the selected countries in the region.
  • Develop new dashboards, upgrade and improve the existing dashboards. configure data visualization and establish automated analysis.
  • Provide technical support to the development and implementation of capacity building activities for server administration, DHIS2 customization, and implementation of DHIS2 for focal points in WHO offices and the Member States.
  • Work closely with the country offices to promote the use of DHIS2 for emergency health data management in the region.
  • Collaborate effectively with country offices and external partners to develop a strategy to use the DHIS2 for Emergency Health Data Management.
required Qualifications:
Education:
  • Essential: First university degree in computer sciences, statistics, engineering, or epidemiology with professional training in Health Information Systems.
  • Desirable: Advanced university degree in one of the above.
Experience:
  • Essential: 2 years experience in the design, the implementation, and the management of DHIS2 applications.
  • Previous experience in the implementation and the management of National Health Information Systems (NHIS).
  • Desirable: Experience in UN organizations/agencies, national and international institutions or NGOs.
Skills:
Essential:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information systems with ability to identify and manage complex systems.
  • Ability to design and implement DHIS2 applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and work with feedback from a range of reviewers.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with emphasis on writing skills.
  • Sound analytical and organizational skills.
  • Desirable: Demonstrated ability to interact in complex situations involving technical, cultural and political elements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Use of Language Skills
  • Essential: Exellent knowledge of English.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of French. Working knowledge of Arabic
