The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region. The Commission promotes cooperation among its 53 member states and 9 associate members in pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.
  • The ESCAP secretariat supports inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development in the region by generating action-oriented knowledge and by providing technical assistance and capacity-building services in support of national development objectives, regional agreements, and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
  • This position is located in the Learning and Development Team, within the Development and Conduct Unit, Human Resources Management Section, Division of Administration (DA).
  • The intern works under the direct supervision of the Associate Human Resources Officer. This internship is unpaid for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 months and is designed to be full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • The duration and modality can be adjusted at the request of the successful candidate.
  • The intern will support the team in various tasks related to the production of videos and multimedia materials for online course(s) and other learning channel(s) to support staff learning and development of ESCAP.
  • Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background as well as the internship period.
  • Assisting in editing scripts and storyboards for videos, animations, and other multimedia content used in learning materials and communications.
  • Producing and editing multimedia content, including videos, motion graphics, and visual assets.
  • Applying quality standards and accessibility checks to ensure all multimedia products meet required guidelines. 
  • Preparing multimedia materials, including formatting, optimizing files, and supporting integration and testing within the Learning Management System—organizing, versioning, and maintaining multimedia files and ensuring secure storage on shared platforms such as SharePoint.
  • Documenting processes, templates, and production steps to support consistency and facilitate future updates to multimedia and materials. 
  • Performing other related work, as required, to support the development of learning products and communication initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
  • However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Office and multimedia production applications.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Studio or CapCut and Canva is desirable.
  • Knowledge of generative AI tools is desirable. Knowledge of Moodle is an asset.
