We are looking for someone to join the Oxfam Public Health Engineering team to be part of an Advisory team which reacts to emergencies across the globe. The post holder will:
Provide direct support in water and sanitation in large-scale emergencies.
Drive Oxfam global WASH strategy in specific fields
Advise on long term sustainability issues in humanitarian contexts
The position involves short, normally around 6 week assignments in the 1st phase of emergencies and frequent programme support visits. You will have a suitable qualification in any discipline relating to Environmental Engineering and significant leadership experience in responding to humanitarian crises in developing countries. You should have a good understanding of the public health needs of poor rural and urban communities and of appropriate ways of tackling them. You should have well developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations and a willingness to travel at short notice, and often in difficult circumstances. A good working knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic is an distinct advantage.
