Job Description

OSC seeks well-qualified applicants for a Workforce Advisor for the anticipated USAID Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA). The purpose of this activity is to contribute to increasing women’s access to employment and leadership in Jordan by improving women’s access to the job market, enhancing the enabling environment, and addressing inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions. 1) Improve women’s access to jobs in the private sector and leadership opportunities in the private and public sectors; 2) Improve supported perceptions, practices, and advocacy; and 3) Stimulate and enforce more equitable, safe, and accessible working environments.

Position Description

The Workforce Advisor will provide overall technical assistance to expand economic opportunities to women, with a key focus on private sector employment. S/he will provide technical direction to define workforce development approaches and activities to promote women’s empowerment through skill building and reduction of labor market entry barriers. S/he will design evidence-based interventions, consistent with project goals and objectives, in coordination with a diverse team of workforce and economic development experts. S/he should have demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with public and private sector partners; report writing and presentation skills; team building experience; and technical knowledge of strategies related to gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, and economic growth and development. This is a long-term (five year) position based in Amman, Jordan.

Requirements

  •  Master’s degree in areas such as education, economic development, or related field
  •  Minimum 6 years of workforce development related experience, including strong understanding of economic and gender context in Jordan
  •  Experienced in collaborating with a variety of stakeholders in the public, private, and NGO sectors
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of women’s economic empowerment issues in Jordan and/or the Middle East
  •  Experience working on USAID-funded programming a plus
  •  Excellent oral and written English and Arabic language communication skills.
