UNICEF GSSC is looking for talented IT professionals for data analysis and reporting to drive efficiencies in GSSC. The role of this post is to collect, evaluate, transform and prepare data, and to create reports based on specifications received from partner teams. Work with different Sections in GSSC in analysis and evaluation of all performance and business-related metrics

 Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

Data collection and preparing reports on key metrics:

  • Ensure complete understanding of data and reporting requirements, functionality and facilitate user interface
  • Provide reports to external and internal stakeholders including GSSC management
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of reported information.

Liaise and interact with colleagues, users and user groups in establishing data and reporting requirements:

  • Analyze issues, develop functional specifications and identify the need for new reports or re-engineering/enhancements of the existing reports, dashboards or scorecards
  • Liaise with GSSC customers with business-side reporting ideas that have to be translated to specifications and implemented properly by using the data warehouse and minimizing the use of manually maintained data.
  • Monitor the changing expectations and specs and make sure they stay within reasonable limits and standards. Provide knowledge and assistance to team members and colleagues to facilitate processes

Assist the IT Officer with Data Warehouse related issues:

  • Create tables from refined data that suits the needs of GSSC users, based on their specifications and reporting needs (tables focused on SLA performance, SAP payments, SAP position and personnel changes, etc.)
  • Investigate data replication errors, find logical errors in procedures and fix them.
  • Perform deep-dives in the data pool to find potentially useful, yet undiscovered connections between tables that enables new and innovative use of data (e.g. cross-system end-to-end reports).

Provide trainings and improve the self-service capabilities of teams:

  • Promote self-service reporting in the GSSC for data users and reporting needs Support in creating a platform where users can get the needed data and create their own reports. Provide training that include the structural overview of the data warehouse, an introduction to SQL queries and to the use of MS Power BI.

Education:

  • Completion of Secondary education (high school degree) supplemented with training at university level in Computer Science Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering.

Experience:

  • A minimum of seven years of practical work experience in information technology, monitoring, data analysis and reporting
  • Good understanding of the data analytics especially expertise in PowerBI is required
  • Experience and working knowledge of various computer platforms and applications is required.
  • Experience in providing assistance to users on reporting solutions and services and use of applications
  • Experience with ServiceNow and SAP reporting is an asset
  • Functional knowledge of T-SQL, DAX and M Query
  • Work experience with a development organization or the United Nations is an asset
  • Fluency in English (verbal and spoken) required
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish), or local language of the duty station, is considered an asset.
