The intern supports the stakeholder communications and membership services functions of the Regional Director’s Office (RDO), towards IUCN’s overall mission of sharing and promoting the use of science-driven knowledge and tools for nature conservation and sustainable use in the Asia region.

Responsibilities:

  • The intern supports the stakeholder communications and membership services functions of the Regional Director’s Office (RDO) towards IUCN’s overall mission of sharing and promoting the use of science-driven knowledge and tools for nature conservation and sustainable use in the Asia region.
  • Scope—Institutional communications and membership engagement
  • communications support through IUCN Asia’s social media accounts, website, newsletter, annual report, and other platforms; ii) provision of information and other support services to Members and Union constituents.
  • Throughout the internship, the selected candidate will have an opportunity to learn about:
  •  IUCN's institutional mission, operations, Asia regional agenda and strategy contributing to IUCN Programme 2026-29;
  •  Institutional functions of the regional Secretariat;
  •  Policies and standards for stakeholder engagement, including for Members and Commissions; and,
  • Communications strategy, style guide, branding, and quality-assurance checks.
  • In performing the assigned duties, the intern will have the opportunity to interact with key units and teams at the Regional Office, throughout the region, and with Headquarters.
  • The intern will gain hands-on experience engaging with various stakeholders and implementing social media and visual communications strategies.
  • The intern will receive constructive feedback on their performance from line managers.

Requirements:

  • Currently registered in an academic institution, either as an undergraduate student (has completed at least three school years of a bachelor’s program) or as a postgraduate student (master’s program).
  • Recent graduates, i.e., those who have obtained their academic degrees within the last two years, are also eligible to apply.
  • Academic background in either or a combination of i) communications and media, marketing, public relations, advertising, and information/knowledge management and ii) biological, natural, and social sciences relevant to environment and development.
  • Proficiency in graphic/publication design tools (Canva is essential; Adobe Suite is an advantage).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Ability to design professional PowerPoint presentations.
  • Personal Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent command of English, especially strong writing and editing skills.
  • Thai national and/or eligible to obtain a relevant internship visa for Thailand.
