Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Yaounde Regional Office for Central Africa and the supervision of the of the International Coordinator of the Luanda Biennale, the communication officer will be responsible for:

Elaborating (in consultation with the other members of the Biennale team and the international coordinator) a communication strategy, communication campaign and related workplans.
Restructuring the Biennale of Luanda web site in ENG, FR and PT.
Updating regularly the Biennale of Luanda web site in ENG, FR and PT.
Creating interesting and engaging contents on the third Biennale and related projects and events.
Drafting speeches, brochures and press releases and any other document required for the successful delivery of the Biennale.
Planning and producing regular social media contents (twitter and Instagram).
Contributing to the production, editing and dissemination of the Biennale reports and statutory documents (including with proofreading, editing, and translating the English, French and/or Portuguese versions of the reports).
Planning, producing, and disseminating of the Biennale quarterly newsletter by liaising with partners, writing, editing, translating, and proofreading the newsletters articles in Portuguese French and English.
Liaising and working with other UNESCO communication offices across the organisation.
Liaising and working with a multitude of different partners (Governments, Civil Society Organisations and Academia, Private Sector, International Organisations, etc.).
Performing any other communication tasks that may be necessary for success of the Biennale of Luanda.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, IT, Human and Social Sciences and related areas. A first-level university degree in combination with additional 3 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Essential work experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the United Nations System or in an (international) organization working for the Sustainable Developments Goals.
  • Experience in communication and reporting.
  • Working experience in Angola and/or Africa.

Competencies and skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of the latest range of web design software and operating systems .
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to accept feedback and integrate them it into web choices and design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills.
  • Proof record of ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Proof record of excellent (oral and written) communication skills, including: 1) ability to draft and produce a variety of documents in a clear and concise manner; and 2) ability to give oral presentations to different audiences.
  • Proficiency in excel and word and other presentation tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and to maintain good working relations within a multi-cultural environment.

Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge of English or French; Knowledge of Portuguese is highly recommended.
