The overall goal of the proposed ‘Khushal Bachpan: Promoting Happy Childhood’ is ‘Children in the project locations lead safe, happy and dignified childhood with enabling environment promoting easy access to their rights.’

As part of the project conceptualization, Caritas India conducted a research study with participation of community and other key stakeholders to analyse the situation of children and their access to rights.

The project shall identify good practices from the different locations within the project area and shall work towards replicating it in the different states and districts. The project shall promote local level child ambassadors to voice the issues at the district levels. Further, the project shall organise campaigns to generate momentum around the issue of child rights which shall lead to proactive measures by the state to effectively implement the policies.

Roles and Responsibilities

Primary Role of the position:  Provide monitoring and accompaniment support to Program Lead in financial management and manage programme expenses at the field office level directly incurred by Caritas India field team.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Assist Program Lead to ensure that the activities are carried out and the expenses are within the approved budget.
  • Monthly and related other periodic reporting to the Lead – Program & Finance and to point person for finance for Donor Partner on the program related finance operations/processes undertaken while keeping all concerned in loop in all related communication.
  • Managing financial aspects of Programs including Budgeting, Monitoring of Budget/Fund Utilization in line with all national/local statutory financial and legal compliances.
  • Provide handholding to Assistant Extension Associates to guide/assist /train them to prepare the finance documents as per the requirements.
  • Orient and train the Assistant Extension Associates on the program’s administrative and financial guidelines for effective implementation.
  • Carry out payments as per the program objectives and ensure verification of all supporting documents.
  • Monthly monitoring of programme books of accounts and related documents
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports from all the CI Assistant Extension Associates as per the requirement of the Donor.
  • Ensure adherence of all legal compliances in all financial activities in the state / national level as may be applicable.
  • Help Program Finance Lead to prepare the audited statement of accounts

 Knowledge/ Skills

  •  Knowledge of legal and statutory requirements related to NGOs
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Tally software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferably proven familiarity with development project operations
  • Accounting knowledge, skill to monitor the budget and expenses
  • Reporting and Documentation skills
  • Regular review for learning & incorporation of learning into finance operations within the Program .
